POWER PULL: Although the late-summer storm that swept across northeastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton may have affected some of the competitions, particularly outdoor events, during the 160th Eastern Nova Scotia Exhibition, there was plenty of action for visitors to enjoy in the Antigonish Arena. Bobby Daniel’s team from Burlington, Kings County, was the big winner in the light horse division (less than 3,000lbs) of the popular horse pull over the weekend. The team’s winning pull came in at 8,000lbs. More photos from the fall fair in this week's edition.

Storm wipes out sections of Hwy. 344, leaves residents stranded

GUYSBOROUGH – The violent rainstorm that swept through Guysborough County and neighbouring areas this weekend claimed three sections of Hwy. 344, leaving some residents temporarily stranded.
